Every Child Deserves the Very Best in Medical Care.
We’re Here to Deliver It.
Monmouth Medical Center has long been recognized as the region’s center of excellence in pediatrics, and now that reputation has been recognized by the state of New Jersey, which has licensed Monmouth as an official children’s hospital for Monmouth and Ocean counties.
Margaret C. Fisher, M.D., medical director of The Children’s Hospital and chair of pediatrics at Monmouth, adds, “Our licensure as a Children’s Hospital is a natural extension of our already extensive and comprehensive pediatric program that has paved the way from which others emanate.”
More than 35 years ago, Monmouth Medical Center set the stage for exceptional pediatric health care in this state by becoming the first hospital in New Jersey and the first community hospital in the United States to establish a Level III neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), demonstrating its knowledge and understanding of specialized pediatric care.
Since then, Monmouth Medical Center has become the leader in this field, treating more than 500 infants each year for such conditions as prematurity, low birth weight, acute life-threatening illnesses and congenital disorders, as well as providing delicate surgeries. “Our standing as the first NICU in New Jersey set the groundwork from which we have built the most complete children’s hospital in the region,” Dr. Fisher says.
This quality of care is evident in The Children’s Hospital standing as a member of the National Association of Children’s Hospitals and Related Institutions (NACHRI), an organization that serves as a collective voice for health systems devoted to the health and well-being of children, no matter how sick or poor.
